“But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.” – 1 Thessalonians 2.4

Most people at one time or another can think back to a time when they were entrusted with something. I remember back in college when a friend of mine forgot to get a drink the first time through the lunch line, he asked me to guard his food “with my life” until he got back. He did not want someone else at the table to make a second course out of his lunch. He put me in trust of his lunch. In our text, the Apostle Paul gives us something infinitely more important that God has left in our trust; that is His Gospel. The good news of Jesus Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection according to the Scriptures is a precious treasure that must be guarded and given out by God’s people. May God help each of us individually and corporately as a church, to always be faithful to our great God; since He has put us “in trust with the gospel.”
