“Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,” – 1 Peter 2.7

In our text, the Apostle Peter records a severe contrast in the accounting of saved and lost people as it relates to Jesus Christ. The one word that should summarize how a Christian values His Christ is “precious.” I wonder if we really see Him that way today. Everything good about you and I is because of the Lord’s grace in our life. Take a moment and think about where you would be had Jesus Christ not saved your soul from eternal destruction and given you a new purpose for your life. Charles Gabriel must have had this on his mind as he penned the words to his hymn, “He is So Precious to Me.”

So precious is Jesus, my Savior, my King;
His praise all the day long with rapture I sing.
To Him in my weakness for strength I can cling,
For He is so precious to me.

For He is so precious, so precious to me;
For He is so precious, so precious to me.
’Tis heaven below, my Redeemer to know,
For He is so precious to me.

– Charles Gabriel, 1902

May God help each of us to value Christ as we ought to, precious.
